Education and Training : Scientific Research Scholar Program

Scientific Research Scholar Program

Realizing our mission of accessible and patient-centric healthcare depends on innovation. At the International Medicine Institute, we invest deeply in research in order to empower our practitioners and deliver the best possible care to our patients. Our research program is expansive, encompassing diverse branches like oncology, endocrinology and geriatric research.

Innovative research also requires an innovative approach. At the IMI, junior research scholars from around the world embed within our laboratories for up to two years, working alongside several senior investigators. Junior investigators conduct groundbreaking research, and also facilitate closer collaboration between geographically diverse institutions.

For those interested in conducting research with us, the junior research scholar and their mentoring senior investigator should email an application to the International Medicine Institute Scientific Research Scholar Regional Advisor. If approved, the Regional Advisor will contact the Scientific Research Scholar Committee Chair for successful matching with an investigator at the University of Miami. The home institution provides the possibility for the junior research scholar’s return to the home institution upon completion of the program.

Eligible Research Scholars must have received their Ph.D. or M.D. degree within the last four years; demonstrate documentation showing a minimum one year of previous research experience, and have intentions to return to their country of origin.
