Education and Training : Scientific Research Scholar Program

Scientific Research Scholar Program

The mission of the Scientific Research Scholar Program is to promote the advancement of biomedical research through the establishment of international collaborations.

The Program’s unique approach employs an aggressive mentoring model that places a junior research scholar between one senior investigator in their home institution and one at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The junior investigator joins a University of Miami laboratory for a period of 6 months up to two years during which s/he completes or develops a new area of investigation that is applicable to their home institution. This junior investigator will be the bridge to facilitate and foster collaboration between the two laboratories.

The junior research scholar and their mentoring senior investigator submit an application to the International Medicine Institute Scientific Research Scholar Regional Advisor. If approved, the Regional Advisor contacts the Scientific Research Scholar Committee Chair for successful matching with an investigator at the University of Miami. It should be noted that the home institution provides the possibility for the junior research scholar’s return to the home institution upon completion of the program.
