Assistant Vice President
Marianne Finizio leads the International Medicine Institute’s operations and business development initiatives, focusing on local, regional and global opportunities to promote UHealth’s mission.

This mission includes delivering quality health care services to patients throughout the globe through UHealth International (UHI), providing educational programs to Physicians and medical students in Latin America and the Caribbean and globally, and developing research programs with healthcare organizations in Latin America. Marianne liaises with general consulates, trade commissioners and healthcare public, and private sector stakeholders to link the international medical community with the UHealth network through the IMI. Prior to working with the IMI, Marianne developed a specialty health plan for Medicaid recipients living with HIV/AIDS and grew its membership throughout the state of Florida utilizing the Division of Infectious Disease at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital as an initial core delivery system.

She also served as the Vice Chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Miller School of Medicine and has held other key roles in operations, fiscal management, marketing and business development in the healthcare space. Her extensive experience empowers her to develop key strategies in identifying new market opportunities, streamline process efficiencies in operations and enhance the IMI and UHealth brands in the local community and abroad. Marianne is also a University of Miami alumna and sits on the board and Executive Committee of Project Medishare for Haiti, and collaborates with and supports with a variety of charitable organizations in South Florida that focus on healthcare and education.

As the head of Business Development, Dr. Marco Flores develops strategic relationships between the International Medicine Institute and physicians and healthcare organizations across Latin America, the Caribbean and globally. His role encompasses increasing international patient referrals, clinical trials and research projects, and establishing agreements with healthcare organizations, insurance companies and healthcare and academic institutions.

Dr. Flores is an expert in international healthcare insurance products and services, and specializes in implementing major medical plans, developing healthcare networks and promoting medical systems in Latin America. He received his medical degree from Universidad Mayor de San Andrés, Bolivia, and held leading positions as Director of International Contracts for BUPA, Business Development for Employers Reinsurance, Regional Manager at Qualitas Alfa and Director of International Operations at Cyberknife Center of Miami. He currently holds a seat as a Florida Delegate in the American Medical Chamber of the Americas.

Jacqueline Álvarez-Gautney began her career at UM seven years ago as Finance Director Behavioral Health Services, overseeing all financial aspects of the organization and managing a $40M annual budget. In 2013 she worked as Finance Director for the University of Miami Radiation Oncology Department, with oversight over clinical and hospital budgets, including grants, patient billing related to the department’s physicians, and vendor and consultant management. In 2015 she became Executive Finance Director at UHealth International. Her role involves the department’s overall budget process, reviewing compliance with all contracts, patient billing, liaising with coordinators and with the government of Peru for all financial matters related to pediatric bone marrow patients referred to UHealth. Jacqueline also tracks and maintains relevant statistical data and processes related to patient agreements and letters of guarantee. Her background includes work in the financial and accounting fields for Ryder Truck and Florida Power and Light, where she managed a budget of over $100M, and Ocean Bank.

Jacqueline holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Accounting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting, from the University of Miami. She has served on the Alumni Board of Directors and mentor at UM School of Business, in Miami Dade Community College’s STARS/HOPE program for high-risk high school students, and is active in the Habitat for Humanity, United Way and other community support initiatives.
