Medical Director

Lilliam Guzman, M.D.

Dr. Guzmán is the Medical Director of UHealth International, where she sees patients from around the world. A graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Mount Sinai Medical School and Hospital Affiliates in New York, Dr. Guzmán is an American Board Certified Internal Medicine physician and Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

As a physician, she works with patients at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, UM Hospital, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is an assistant professor of Clinical Medicine at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s General Internal Medicine Division, and leads medical education for third year medical students and residents at UM Jackson Memorial.

A dedicated physician and part of the communities she serves, she was the recipient of the New York Regents award for her service to underprivileged and underserved populations during her tenure at the Cabrini Medical Center’s Hispanic Health Initiative. Other awards include Best Doctors in America, Compassionate Physician awards, and the Patients’ Choice Award for excellence in patient care. She was named one of the Top Ten Doctors in the U.S., an honor bestowed upon less than 3 percent of physicians in the country and testament to her commitment to excellence in patient care.

Joyce Chavarria is the Executive Director of Patient Services for UHealth International (UHI), under the International Medicine Institute (IMI). She is a University of Miami Alumnus, and hold a doctorate in nursing practice with a specialization in oncology, and a master’s in business administration.  Joyce has over 18 years of experience in healthcare administration and operations, of which 16 years have been serving patients at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. As an oncology nurse, Joyce served in a variety of administrative roles within Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, including the oncology and medical ambulatory clinics, and policy and development for nursing and education.   She has also focused on assessing and implementing strategies to improve access to care, patient and customer satisfaction, quality improvement, and team dynamics in healthcare delivery systems.
